Objectives of the Floriculture Farmers Having Their Say Workshop
The Floriculture Farmers Having Their Say workshop took place at the South Sea Orchids, Nadi, Fiji on 04th July, 2019.
The workshop brought together representatives from all districts around Fiji with more than 80 participants. The event was held at the South Sea Orchids Farm in Nasau, Nadi. Floriculture Support Association was represented by Mr. Verona Lucas, Aileen and Keresi. Also present were representative from the Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs. Perina Susu and Mrs. Rusieli Mua from the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism
The workshop objectives were to:
- Bring together for the first time ever all Floriculturists Cluster representatives from around Fiji to meet in one place
- Network with each other, Government and other partners whilst obtaining Floriculture Cluster contacts
- Workshop on Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats for Floriculture farming
- Discuss and share in the general discussion and agree to participate in developing strategies for Floriculture farming
- Develop strategies so that it will form the basis of an initial Floriculture Farmers Strategic Plan
- Produce a Floriculture Strategic Plan that can be applied for the next 5 years
- Form a national body for Floriculture Farmers who currently farm flowers whether in cluster or non-clusters
- Nominate representatives to be part of the Floriculture Farmers Association committee
- Develop general rules to help govern the Association and the committee that will represent the Floriculture industry
